Bargoed Sight Centre is able to offer many additional services in addition to sight tests and eye examinations.

OCT and Retinal Imaging

We use advanced OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) technology alongside retinal photography to capture highly detailed images of the back of your eye. OCT allows us to see beneath the surface of the retina, providing a cross-sectional view that helps detect early signs of conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy — often before any symptoms appear.

These imaging tools allow for more accurate assessments, ongoing monitoring, and peace of mind when it comes to your eye health

Emergency Eye Care

We provide emergency eye care services for patients experiencing sudden changes in vision, eye pain, redness, flashes or floaters, or other urgent eye concerns. Our qualified optometrists are accredited to assess and manage a wide range of eye conditions and can refer you for further treatment if necessary. If you’re worried about a sudden eye problem, please contact us as soon as possible.

Low Vision Service Wales

A range of magnifying glasses and specialised optical aids are available free of charge on loan through the Low Vision Service Wales. Anyone living in Wales who is not able to get normal sight with spectacles or contact lenses is likely to qualify for this service, especially if registered as Sight Impaired or Severely Sight Impaired. Many conditions including Age Related Macular Degeneration and Cataracts make it difficult or impossible to read without more help and referral can be made to other agencies if needed.

Safety Spectacles

We stock a range of safety spectacles made in accordance with British Standards.
