David Taylor

David Taylor

Optometrist Director

David first joined Bargoed Sight Centre as an Optometrist in 2014 and became Optometrist Director in 2021. He graduated from Cardiff University in 2008 with a degree in Optometry and Visual Sciences and brings a wealth of clinical experience to the practice.

David is accredited by Wales Eye Care Services to provide Eye Health Examination Wales (EHEW) and is also a Low Vision Practitioner. He holds Professional Certificates in Glaucoma and Medical Retina, enabling him to provide advanced care for patients with more complex eye conditions.

David is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-focused care and continues to stay at the forefront of developments in clinical optometry.

Rebecca Jones

Rebecca Jones

Optometrist Director

Rebecca graduated from Cardiff University in 2015 with a degree in Optometry and Visual Sciences. Since qualifying, she has gained valuable experience working in a variety of independent practices across Bristol, Cardiff, and Barry, developing a strong foundation in patient-centred care.

In 2021, Rebecca became Optometrist Director at Bargoed Sight Centre, working alongside her husband, David. She is committed to providing the highest standard of eye care and has continued to expand her clinical expertise with postgraduate qualifications, including Professional Certificates in Glaucoma and Medical Retina.

Rebecca is passionate about building lasting relationships with patients and delivering tailored eye care in a friendly, professional setting.

Lorna

Dispensing Optician

Lorna joined Bargoed Sight Centre in 2009 as an Optical Assistant, and quickly demonstrated her commitment to both professional development and patient care. She went on to study for the Fellowship Diploma in Ophthalmic Dispensing and qualified as a Fellow of the Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) in 2013.

With over a decade of experience at the practice, Lorna has built strong, lasting relationships with many of our patients. She takes pride in offering expert advice on frames and lenses, ensuring each patient finds eyewear that meets both their visual needs and personal style.

Dianne

Optical Assistant

Dianne has been a valued member of the Bargoed Sight Centre team since the practice first opened in 1988. With decades of experience, she has developed trusted relationships with generations of patients and is known for her friendly, approachable manner.

Dianne has a keen eye for style and takes particular enjoyment in helping patients choose the perfect frames — balancing comfort, practicality, and personal taste. Her long-standing dedication to the practice and its patients makes her a familiar and reassuring presence in the team

Dawn

Optical Assistant

Dawn first joined Bargoed Sight Centre in 2005, starting out in the workshop before moving into the role of Optical Assistant in 2008. Since then, she has become an integral part of the team, known for her versatility and attention to detail.

In addition to assisting patients, Dawn plays a key role behind the scenes — she’s the practice’s go-to IT expert and ensures that the accounts and admin systems run smoothly. Her combination of technical know-how and patient care experience makes her a vital support to both the team and the day-to-day running of the practice.
